OVERVIEW

Masai Mara National Park

This will be a day of tracking game with your guide and is the climax of game viewing. The Mara’s landscape is scenic Savannah grassland on rolling hills, which enables the Reserve to attract sufficient rainfall to maintain and support a large population of herbivores, together with the predators that follow. Elephant, lion and buffalo can be seen with relative ease though luck is a necessary factor for spotting rhino and leopard that completes the big five as the two animals are very timid and sparsely numbered. Plains game like wildebeest, zebra and Masai giraffe abound as well as hippos and a wide variety of antelopes including impala, dik dik, hartebeest and both the Grant’s and Thompson’s gazelles among others.

ITINERARY

Day 1

Nairobi to Masai Mara

We will pick you up from the airport upon arrival or from your accommodation and depart for the Masai Mara Game Reserve, with a stopover at the Great Rift Valley to view the escarpment, take photos, and refresh for about 10 minutes. We will then proceed with another brief stop for refreshments before continuing the journey.
You will arrive at the Masai Mara Game Reserve in time for lunch and check in at your accommodation. After some time to relax, you will head out for an afternoon game drive from 3:30 pm until sunset.
Dinner will be served in the evening, followed by a bonfire and an overnight stay at your accommodation.

Day 2

Masai Mara National Reserve

Enjoy breakfast before heading out for a full-day game drive with a packed lunch. This allows ample time to explore the park and, if your visit falls between July and October, to witness the spectacular Wildebeest Migration in the Masai Mara.
You will enjoy lunch at a designated picnic site within the park before continuing with game viewing. Later, drive back to your accommodation full of unforgettable memories, freshen up, and enjoy a freshly prepared dinner, followed by an overnight stay.

Day 3

Masai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, check out and depart for Nairobi, with an optional cultural visit to a local Maasai community at an extra cost of USD 20 per person. Later, drive back to Nairobi, arriving in the late afternoon. Your driver-guide will drop you off at your preferred destination within Nairobi or at the airport for your onward flight.
