OVERVIEW

Masai Mara National Park

A road safari to Masai Mara is special due to its unique and immersive wildlife experience, allowing you to witness as many wild animals and bird species as you can in their natural habitats, including the iconic wildebeest migration, all while enjoying the flexibility of a road-based adventure. The safari takes you 5 to 6 hours from Nairobi, depending on the lodge or camp you have been booked in.

This will be a day of tracking game with your guide and is the climax of game viewing. The Mara’s landscape is scenic Savannah grassland on rolling hills, which enables the Reserve to attract sufficient rainfall to maintain and support a large population of herbivores, together with the predators that follow. Elephant, lion and buffalo can be seen with relative ease though luck is a necessary factor for spotting rhino and leopard that completes the big five as the two animals are very timid and sparsely numbered. Plains game like wildebeest, zebra and Masai giraffe abound as well as hippos and a wide variety of antelopes including impala, dik dik, hartebeest and both the Grant’s and Thompson’s gazelles among others.

ITINERARY

Day 1

Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve

We will pick you from the airport after arrival or from your hotel or residence in Nairobi and depart for Masai Mara, with a stopover at the Great Rift Valley escarpment for photos and a bathroom break for 5-10 Minutes, followed by another stopover in Narok Town. You’ll then proceed to Masai Mara and check in/lunch. Followed by a game drive at 3:00 pm until sunset. Then, you’ll return to the lodge for dinner and a bonfire.

Day 2

Masai Mara National Reserve

A full-day game drive with a packed lunch is highly recommended to fully explore the park. You’ll enjoy lunch at a picnic site within the park and continue the game drive until evening. You’ll return to the lodge for dinner, a bonfire, and an overnight stay.
Alternatively, you may opt for a hot air balloon ride (extra cost: USD 460 per person). This activity begins early in the morning, from 6:00 AM to 7:00 AM. This includes a celebratory champagne bush breakfast at the landing site. You will enjoy a delicious sit-down breakfast with waiting staff, featuring a full hot breakfast and chilled sparkling wine or champagne. After breakfast, you will continue with the game drive.
In the afternoon, you’ll return to your lodge/camp for lunch, followed by a game drive at 3:00 PM. You’ll end the day with dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3

Masai to Nairobi

You’ll depart for Nairobi after breakfast. On arrival, in the afternoon, the driver-guide will drop you off at the airport or your hotel/residence within Nairobi.

Depending on your flight departure time, you have an optional visit to Kazuri beads factory for shopping for handcrafted jewellery formed from African clay and Galleria Mall for souvenirs.
